Thoughts on new pajamas
A new set of glow-in-the-dark pajamas ignites the imagination.
The longer I stay in Malaysia, the more I realize that everything we need is generally available here. That said, when we go back to California, I stock up on unique items. The last time we were back, there was a sale on Halloween pajamas, and I picked up an upsized glow-in-the-dark pajama set for my son. I kept it hidden in a drawer that he could not reach, and one day, after a growth spurt I told him that I had a surprise. I unveiled the “skeleton bones pajamas.” He was absolutely delighted at the fact that he could transform into skeleton bones, and even more delighted at the fact that in the dark, his skeleton bones were the only thing that one could see.
On the topic of Skeleton Bones Pajamas
May 19, 2025
like a theatre of black light
He jangled his bones across the room
Spooking his nana
Spooking his dada
Jumping out to surprise his family
He believed you could see his insides
Boo!
I unveiled the skeleton bone pajamas ceremoniously
You are not 5 yet, but I thought you might like them.
I think you're big enough now.
when it was time for bed
he said he was too hot
and the bones glowed too bright
his animals couldn't sleep
he said, the skeleton bones were scaring him.
so we changed back into
handmedown pajamas
because they have dogs on bikes
with hearts
and a picnic basket
and bowties
The one with spots is my favorite, what's yours?
Let's go to sleep now.
I love you. Goodnight. Goodnight.I love the tenderness of being a mother. I wouldn’t trade anything in the world for it.
Readers, I’d love to know if this poem resonates with you and why... Thank you for reading.
